Derek & The Checkmates are a band made up of top Birmingham musicians Featuring Derek Wood who played for Delegation, a leading British soul band who toured extensively in Europe and Africa before he joined the Steve Gibbons Band, recording the Saints & Sinners album and touring extensively in Europe.

Phil Brittle on drums, Dan Wood and Maz Mitrenko occasionally on guitars. The music embraces classic covers such as by Neil Young, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Band, Tom Petty and many more ………
